i’m speechless. i can understand how painful the situation is for her and friends and relatives. my uncle died of stomach cancer and my very precious loving cousin died of brain cancer at his very young age. just a few days before he died, i went to see him…he was unable to speak by that time and couldn’t recognize no one except his mom ‘n dad. i silently sat beside him and to my utter surprise, he suddenly stretched his hand to hold mine. i didn’t know what to do and looked at his mom…she nodded. i held his hand. i was at his age back then and it didn’t stir my mind that much back then. but now, when i look back, believe me gertie, i can still feel the warmth of his feeble weak hand…i can see the longing and love for life in his blank stare at me. i consciously try not to think about him …cos whenever his face dawns before me…it brings back a lot of memories… and it pains a lot!
you said it right, gertie….there’s no cure. both my uncle and my cousin died without a cure. there is no freakin’ elixir!!!! but you know what! there is miracle. yes…miracles still do happen, dear gertie. it didn’t happen in my cousins case, but i really really hope and pray to god, it will happen to your friend. she’ll be alright…she’ll be cured and live happily rest of her life with her family and friends. my prayers will always be with her.
thank you for sharing, gertie. may god give you the strength to deal with such tough situations. stay fine…every day and in every way.

gertie, you don’t want it?! you don’t want to actually stay (not ‘look’) young but happy to “feel” young only? :unsure_tb:

» Posted By parvez On November 22, 2006 @ 10:01 am

:laugh_tb: mr. marcel, let me know if you ever find that ‘elixir’ to be able to stay young forever. hope, you’d give me a few drops of that magic potion….for friendships sake! :laugh_tb:

» Posted By parvez On November 21, 2006 @ 4:39 pm

stopping the aging process – staying young as long as you live, sounds so cool. but remaining young and living forever! can’t really imagine what possibly could happen. after a while when you’ve seen it all and done it all …then what? you get bored!? imagine dragging your life to eternity with sheer boredom. nah! there must be some way to get out of that…probably some kind of socially acceptable way to end ones life at ones will. you choose and cease to live in your own terms. you die when you feel like to die. that is good…when immortality would be a choice, not an inevitability.
i really like this quote on immortality: “avoid immortality. but if you’re destined to be immortal, try make it less painful.” i can see the glint of hard truth in it. a beautiful quote, isn’t it?

ian: my most favorite travel show host. he’s so funny ..he can make the grumpiest guy in the world burst out laughing. and justine…she’s lucid, very very clear in explaing things. and who would forget her most charming smile! i don’t know why but i always tend to think she’s very very good in mathematics. probably she is, i don’t know.

Grigory Perelman

thanks for the invitation dear gertie. i really love the smell of coffee. ummmmm….beautiful. :smile1_tb:
your PS was cool!!!! ok, we’ll have enough bars for ourselves first. enough to make two castles entirely made of gold. then if there’s anything left…that will be yours. :laugh_tb:

» Posted By parvez On August 30, 2006 @ 11:29 am

gertie, if you want some gold bars…say it. please, don’t hesitate. :wink_ee: :laugh_tb:

» Posted By parvez On August 28, 2006 @ 12:01 pm

ha..ha…well, mr. marcel…as much as i’m “upset” with grisha, showing a toon like knee-jerking arm-throwing reaction for his turning down the offer of one million…the fact of the matter is i’m at best a buffoon next to the genius grisha. so you get the picture. convince the authority to give me one goddamn million….no chance in hell, mate. :smile2_ee:
but i really liked the second option. if you kindly give me a bump key and tell me how to disable the tight tight tight security system of fort-knox, i think, i’ll be willing to take the risk. in that case, if i’m successful….i promise, i would give you not one puny gold bar but half the bounty. how about that? :lol_ee:

» Posted By parvez On August 25, 2006 @ 9:46 pm

hmmm…seen this in the newspaper. to me its a ‘sin’ to call a genius a weird. and grisha is nothing short of a genius…no argument about that. period. but!!! to refuse the recogniton of the noble equivalent for mathmatics is one thing. perhaps, he doesn’t give a two penny damn about name and fame. but refusing the prospect of getting one million dollar almighty!!! give me a break, brother!!! it’s said, grisha looks somewhat like rasputin. guess, even rasputin would roll over in his grave hearing about this hugely gifted weirdo. :smile2_ee:

Tibetan monks

oh…one other thing. i really don’t have a very comfortable feeling about all these divsions among monks. division brings politics. politics brings competition and hunger for power. and power hungriness brings chaos and disruption in integrity. nonetheless, i’ll still go with your line “official description does not imply the beauty of all these humans”. let it be the only truth that guides these wonderful people in thier eternal effort to make this world a better place. let their divine beauty surpass the triviality of all those ranks and positions.
thanks again, mr. marcel.

» Posted By parvez On August 23, 2006 @ 4:01 pm

true monks are really a unique set of people. they are unique not because they lead a simple and humble way of life, not because they preach the words of peace, not because their souls are full of love but because they are free from ‘hatred’ and ‘prejudice’. any person can strive to lead a simple life, love most around them and work for and spread the words of peace. but, as normal human beings, we can love yet always tend to carry a burden of, if not hate, a degree of prejudice within us. true monks are free from this evil. look into their eyes…you wouldn’t find even a shadow of hatred/prejudice in there. they have love and only love to give you. so yes, you’re absoluty right when you said about the “beauty of these humans”. yes, they are humans like us….only more beautiful – pure and immaculate.
an informative post. thank you, mr. marcel.
